Is your law firm's website fast enough?

90% of South Florida law firm websites failed Google's mobile speed test in our study. Run the same test on yours. It takes about a minute.

Uses Google PageSpeed Insights, the same engine as pagespeed.web.dev. Free, no sign-up.

What the test checks

Three numbers that decide how your site feels on a phone

Mobile speed score

Google's Lighthouse score from 0 to 100, tested on a simulated mid-range phone over a mobile connection. 90 or better passes. 50 to 89 is what Google calls Needs Improvement, and under 50 is Poor.

Time to main content

Largest Contentful Paint: how long until the biggest thing on the screen, usually your headline or hero photo, appears. Google's target is 2.5 seconds. Over 4 seconds is Poor.

Real visitors

When your site gets enough Chrome traffic, Google also grades real visits from the last 28 days (Core Web Vitals). Most firm sites don't get enough, so the lab test is the best guide.

Questions

About the speed test

What score should a law firm website have?

90 or better on mobile. That is Google's Good band, and Google tells site owners to aim for it. A perfect 100 is not expected. If you track one number, make it Largest Contentful Paint on mobile: the main content should appear within 2.5 seconds.

Why is my mobile score so much lower than desktop?

Google tests mobile on a simulated mid-range phone over a slower mobile connection, and desktop on a fast wired one. In our study the same site scored a median of 20 points lower on a phone. The mobile score is the closer picture of someone looking for a lawyer from their phone.

Does page speed affect Google rankings?

It can. Google recommends good Core Web Vitals "for success with Search", but relevance comes first: a fast site will not outrank a better answer. When many firms offer similar pages, which describes most practice-area searches, a better page experience can help.

Why is my score different from pagespeed.web.dev?

Scores move a few points from run to run, even on Google's own site. This tool uses the same engine, runs the mobile test three times (five when the runs disagree) and reports the middle score, so one unlucky run does not decide your result.

What does "not enough traffic" mean for real visitors?

Google grades Core Web Vitals from real Chrome visitors over the last 28 days, and only when a site has enough of them. Most firm websites don't. In that case the lab test above is the best picture of your site's speed.

What do you do with my website and email?

The test result is saved so you can share the link. Your name and email are only collected if you ask for the full report, and they go to Carlos Arias, nobody else.
